First arcade cabinet based on EA's Madden NFL franchise

The first official coin-op arcade cabinet based on EA's Madden NFL American football franchise was shipped to select operators in August 2004. EA Sports Madden NFL Football featured accurate 2004/2005 team rosters (which could be updated via the internet) and supported up to four players. To promote the arcade cabinet its developer, Global VR, toured select USA cities as part of the "Madden Challenge Tour". Participants could win cash prizes for winning the tour and Chicago sports radio station, 670-THE SCORE even broadcast commentary of tournament matches. The arcade cabinet was succeeded by Madden NFL Football Season 2.
