The longest line of sandcastles is 3,647, and was achieved by the Radiotherapy Department LUMC/RdGG (Netherlands) in Noordwijk, Netherlands, on 1 July 2022.
The department of Radiation Oncology at Leiden University and Reinier de Graaf Hospital in Delft treat around 3,500 cancer patients per year. During COVID-19, the teams found it hard to work through the stress and suffering around them, but they all managed to pull together to get through the hard times.
In honour of getting through the struggle, they decided to attempt this record with their staff as a visual representation of their efforts by placing 1 sandcastle per patient.
