On 13 June 2016, "Pepper", a humanoid robot, became the first robot to work as receptionist in a hospital. In fact, two Pepper robots started working in Ostend and Liege hospitals in Belgium on this date. Measuring 140 cm in height, with wheels under its frame to allow it to move, Pepper can recognize human voices in 20 different languages and detect if it is talking to a man, woman or child. Created by the Japanese company Softbank in partnership with the French company Aldebaran, the robot was previously used in shopping centres, banks and train stations.
