In 2021, quad singles player Dylan Alcott (Australia) became the first man in tennis to achieve a “Golden Slam” – winning the four major tournaments in Melbourne, Paris, London and New York and Olympic gold in the same year. This stellar performance increased his tally of Grand Slam victories to 15. He won seven titles at the Australian Open (2015-21), three at the French Open (2019-21), two at Wimbledon (2019, 2021) and three at the US Open (2015, 2018, 2021). Alcott announced his retirement from professional tennis in January 2022, after failing to make it eight singles titles in a row at his home Grand Slam in Melbourne. Sam Schröder beat him 7-5, 6-0 in the final.
Alcott was named Australian of the Year and an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2022.
