With sales of 6.3 million, Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (Capcom, 1992) is the best-selling SNES videogame by a third-party developer. It is, however, only fifth in the list of all-time best-sellers for the 16-bit console since it is beaten by Super Mario World (Nintendo, 1990), Super Mario All-Stars (Nintendo, 1993), Donkey Kong Country (Rare, 1994) and Super Mario Kart (Nintendo, 1992) – all of which are produced by Nintendo themselves or, in the case of Donkey Kong Country, by a second-party developer that was, at the time, part-owned by Nintendo.
