There are enough Disney-inspired platformers to justify their own category, but the very first was 1988's Mickey Mousecapade for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The mouse-branded side-scroller cleared a path for future Disney platform classics such as Duck Tales (1989), Chip 'n Dale's Rescue Rangers (1990), and Castle of Illusion: Starring Mickey Mouse (1990), to name just a few.
The very first Disney game to appear on consoles was the retro-arcade game Sorcerer's Apprentice, developed by Atari for the Atari 2600 in 1983.
Mickey's videogame debut was in 1981's Mickey Mouse Game & Watch handheld.
