The largest watermelon eating contest consists of 745 people, and was achieved by Tonya Eubanks and the Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce (both USA) in Water Valley, Mississippi, USA, on 3 August 2019.
The Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual Watermelon Carnival, and wanted to make the 50th anniversary of the carnival more memorable by attempting a Guinness World Records title.
