Starcade, a game show in which contestants competed against each other by playing arcade games, first aired on the USA's TBS network in 1982. In doing so, it became the first TV game show to involve videogames and it continued until 1984 – which meant that it was even aired throughout the famous videogame crash of 1983. There were 130 episodes over three seasons and its appeal has endured. Media company Shout! Factory acquired the rights to the show in 2017 with the intention of bringing it back.
