The largest arroz con gandules weighed 697.6 kg (1,538 lb) and was achieved by Supermercados Selectos (Puerto Rico), in Caguas, Puerto Rico, on 28 April 2018.
The event was made to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the supermarket chain.
The team of cooks was led by the well-known local chef, Enrique Piñeiro. They included 181 kg of rice, 56 litres of sofrito and 113 kg of pork to make the gigantic arroz con gandules, which was weighed using a crane scale.
