This critically endangered species is found in mangroves on a single island off the coast of Panama: Isla Escudo de Veraguas.
An adult pygmy three-toed sloth weighs in the region of 2.5–3.5 kilograms (5 pounds 8 ounces–7 pounds 11 ounces).
With an estimated population of less than 300 left in the wild, the pygmy three-toed sloth is also the rarest sloth.
