Paul Robinson (Ireland) ran a mile in Antarctica in 4 minutes 17.9 seconds on 25 November 2017. The straight point-to-point course across the remote Union Glacier was measured four times by a GPS satellite before the race to ensure the distance was accurate. Accounting for wind chill, the temperature was -25°C (-13°F). The event was held in conjunction with the annual Antarctic Ice Marathon.
