Scott Helmer (USA) headlined 12 charity concerts in 24 hours on 28–29 November 2016. The singer-songwriter – who has opened for the likes of Heart, 3 Doors Down and Eric Burdon & The Animals – started his music marathon in San Diego, California, and finished in Phoenix, Arizona, on “Giving Tuesday”, with each concert raising money for a different charity. Since 2012, Helmer has raised more than $2 million (£1.53 million) for more than 200 good causes across the USA.

The record attempt was made during Helmer’s Never Give Up Tour – a nod to a troubled past that saw him lose “his family, all of his possessions, his career and, most importantly, his self-respect as he was indicted for his crimes and faced time in prison”. In 2008, he was ready to take his own life and “sat alone in his car on a deserted mountain road in Northern Arizona with a gun in his mouth”. Fortunately, the story had a happy ending. After putting the gun down, he vowed to take responsibility for his actions and never give up.

Helmer released a six-track debut album, Wake Me When It’s Over, in 2013. The album features the single “Time to Say Goodbye”.

His One-Man Rock & Country Music Show was scheduled to stop off at venues across the USA between February and October 2019.
