Japanese vocal group Arashi’s greatest hits album 5x20 All the BEST!! 1999-2019 sold 3.3 million copies in 2019, according to figures published by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). The 64-track, four-CD set was released on 26 June 2019 and debuted at No.1 on the Oricon Albums Chart dated 8 July 2019 with first-week sales of more than 1.3 million.

5x20 All the BEST!! 1999-2019 outsold Taylor Swift’s Lover (3.2 million), Map of the Soul: Persona by BTS (2.5 million), Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born soundtrack and When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? by Billie Eilish (both 1.2 million) to claim the IFPI’s top-selling album accolade for 2019.

The album initially spent just one week at No.1, but returned to the summit on 29 July and 5 August and then registered a fourth week at No.1 on 2 September 2019. Just two other albums spent more than one week at the top in Japan in 2019.

Formed in 1999, the Tokyo-based five-piece are lead vocalist Satoshi Ohno, Jun Matsumoto, Kazunari Ninomiya, Masaki Aiba and Sho Sakurai. The group marked the start of their 20th anniversary year by announcing that they would suspend its activities at the end of 2020. They have released 16 studio albums since 2001.
