The team to obtain the most wins of the Overwatch World Cup is South Korea, having won it three times since the tournament's inauguration in 2016 - in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

The team's winning streak was finally brought to an end in 2019, when they were defeated 3 - 1 in the semifinals by the USA. They managed to reach third place with a 3 - 0 victory over France, whilst the USA went on to defeat China 3 - 0 in the finals. The Cup is held each year at Blizzcon in the Anaheim Convention centre, USA, in the first week of November. The group stages were initially split between four various countries with the knockout stages being held at Blizzcon, but 2019 saw the group stages also held at Blizzcon, only a day beforehand.
