Lake Michigan in the USA is the sixth largest freshwater lake in the world and the largest in any single country. The lake touches the borders of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan, and is also home to the world's largest freshwater dunes. In area, the lake stretches for 22,300 square miles (57,800 square km) and is the second largest of the Great Lakes by volume, at 1,180 cubic miles (4,920 cubic km).
