He has won 47 of those titles at just four tournaments: the French Open (14 titles, in 2005–08, 2010–14, 2017–20 and 2022), the Barcelona Open (12 titles, in 2005–09, 2011–13, 2016–18 and 2021), the Monte-Carlo Masters (11 titles, in 2005–12 and 2016–18) and the Italian Open (10 titles, in 2005–07, 2009–10, 2012–13, 2018–19 and 2021).
By winning the Monte-Carlo Masters on 23 April 2017, Nadal reached 50 titles on clay to eclipse the achievement of Argentina’s Guillermo Vilas, who won 49 clay-court titles between 1973 and 1983. Nadal’s French Open triumph in 2022 made him the first-ever player to win 14 singles titles at one Grand Slam (or any top-level) event. It was his 92nd all-surface title on the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Tour, since winning the Warsaw Open in 2004.
