Gymnast Kenzō Shirai (Japan) has six elements (original skills) named after him in Fédération Internationale Gymnastique’s Code of Points: three for the floor exercise and three on the vault. His sixth element to be accepted was the Shirai 3 vault, a variation on a vault performed by Vitali Schérbo and first performed in competition by Shirai at the Melbourne Cup on 25 February 2017.

In order to have an original skill named after them, gymnasts have to propose them to the FIG beforehand. Each move is graded by difficulty, from A to I. Gymnasts then have to perform the move without large error at an approved competition.
