On 29–30 April 2017, Rachel Atherton (UK) won her 14th consecutive race at the UCI Mountain Bike downhill World Cup in Lourdes, France. She completed an unprecedented perfect season in 2016, winning all seven races on her way to the title. Atherton’s winning run came to an end when she dislocated her shoulder during a practice run for the World Cup event in Fort William, UK. Upon her return to racing on 1 July 2017, she finished fourth at Vallnord in Andorra.
