Most runs scored in a Twenty20 career

Since 2005, Chris Gayle (Jamaica) has scored 11,068 runs in 323 Twenty20 matches (316 innings) around the world. The hard-hitting left-hander's tally includes runs in domestic Twenty20 competitions in Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan, South Africa and Zimbabwe, plus closer-to-home stints in the Caribbean Premier League and his international career with the West Indies, which had produced 1,589 runs in 55 games (51 innings) as of 4 March 2018.

Gayle's 10,000th career Twenty20 run was scored in a knock of 77 for Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League on 18 April 2017.

The second most prolific Twenty20 batsman is Brendon McCullum (New Zealand), with 8,897 runs as of 4 March 2018. McCullum (51 not out) was Gayle's batting partner in the 2017 Bangladesh Premier League final, putting on an unbroken stand of 201 for the second wicket.

In the Indian Premier League and Australia's Big Bash League, the world's two most high-profile Twenty20 leagues, Gayle has had stints with the Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder.

In the final of the 2017 Bangladesh Premier League at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on 12 December, Gayle's man-of-the-match-winning 146 not out for the Rangpur Riders against the Dhaka Dynamites was the highest score in the competition's history and included 18 sixes – the most sixes by a player in a Twenty20 innings (male).
