Tallest artichoke plant

The tallest cardoon (Cynara cardunculus), aka artichoke thistle, was grown by Nathan Garnett (UK) of Rayleigh in Essex, UK, and reached 3.29 m (10 ft 9.5 in) when measured on 1 July 2025.

The species was confirmed by horticulturalist Simon Charlick. The public's response to the two-storey thistle inspired Nathan to set up a JustGiving fundraiser for Haven Hospices, donating the proceeds from the sale of seeds from the supersized plant.
