The Toronto Wolfpack (Canada) made their UK professional rugby league debut when they played Siddal in the third round of the Challenge Cup on 25 February 2017. The Wolfpack joined League 1, the third tier of UK rugby league, where they chalked up a perfect regular-season record of 15 wins from 15 games, scoring 916 points and conceding just 157.
Although it has been claimed that the Toronto Wolfpack are the first transatlantic professional sports team, there have been predecessors in both hurling and American football, while the Argentine side Jaguares have played in the rugby union Super Rugby championship since 2016.
