The largest collection of Cinderella memorabilia consists of 908 items, and was achieved by Masanao Kawata (Japan), in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, on 19 July 2018.

Kawata began his collection 25 years ago in order to offer Cinderella exhibitions to sick children. He aims to promote his activity to a wider audience by achieving this record.

His collection focuses on the pre-1970 Cinderella collectibles, ranging from picture books to posters, postcards, dolls and figurines, and even the ballet costume used at the Royal Opera in the '50s.

Kawata's favourite item is a picture book published in Germany in 1860. In this version, there is no mention of Fairy Godmother, the pumpkin coach, or the glass slippers. Instead, a hazel tree is planted on the grave of Cinderella's mother, which grows with the drops of Cinderella's tears and produces a dress and golden slippers for her. Kawata states he was deeply moved by how the tree represents the everlasting love of Cinderella's deceased mother in this version of the tale.
