On 14 June 1998, Robert Prosinecki scored for Croatia against Jamaica at the FIFA World Cup 18 years after scoring for Yugoslavia during their Group D game against the United Arab Emirates on 19 June 1990. France 1998 was Croatia’s debut appearance at a FIFA World Cup – they went on to finish in third place, with Prosinecki scoring another against the Netherlands in the third-place play-off on 11 July 1998.
