At the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA, two players were sent off having been on the pitch for just three minutes: Marco Etcheverry (Boliva), who was red-carded in the 82nd minute against Germany on 17 June 1994, having come on as a 79th-minute substitute; and Ion Vladoiu (Romania), a 70th-minute substitute who was dismissed in the 73rd minute against Switzerland on 22 June 1994. Neither would play again at the World Cup.
