The most gold medals won at the FINA World Swimming Championships by a female swimmer is 15, achieved by Katie Ledecky (USA) between 2013 and 2019.
Ledecky overcame illness to claim the 800 m freestyle title at the 2019 FINA World Championships in Gwanju, South Korea. It was her fourth consecutive gold in the event. She has also won freestyle titles in the 200 m (1), 400 m (3), 1,500 m (3), 4 x 100 m (1) and 4 x 200 m (3).
Only Ryan Lochte (18) and Michael Phelps (26) have won more individual golds at the championships.
