The NPC (non-player character) Beverley P took an incredible 2,042 in-game years to escape the maze "Just a Walk in the Park", created in the management game Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 in 2017 by 28-year-old "RogueLeader23", aka Curt (USA). The maze was originally built in the mobile version of the game RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic (2016), but was transferred to the free modded PC version OpenRCT2 (2014) in order to speed up the game. However, no cheats or scripts were used to help the NPCs navigate the maze. It took the player roughly 14 hours across three weeks to design. "RogueLeader23" explained: "The original game only allowed up to sixteen guests at a time, but I was able to change that to 256 [on the PC game] in order to increase the chances of a guest actually finishing before I retired from my actual job!" The first NPC to escape the maze was Regina F., who took 263 in-game years.

"RogueLeader23" says that he created "Just a Walk in the Park" as an experiment to see how long it would take NPCs to escape the toughest and largest maze he could created. He explained: "My intention was to just about completely fill an empty theme park with one "hedge maze" [a hedge maze is an attraction that users can build in the game]. I grew up drawing mazes in school, mostly because I realized I was slightly terrible at drawing in general. Rollercoaster Tycoon was one of the games I was addicted to in my younger years. When it was released to mobile devices, I realized I had enough time to build a massive maze during my travels outside of home away from my PC (which would have never happened otherwise because of my adult life). Rollercoaster Tycoon's "hedge maze" ride is the only ride a player can make where NPCs didn't just sit in a seat and enjoy (or be terrified of) a ride. They had to navigate hundreds of intersections. I've watched NPCs walk in circles for minutes at a time."
