On 7 July 1974, Johann Neeskens (Netherlands) scored a penalty after just 1 minute 30 seconds against West Germany in the final of the FIFA World Cup at the Olympiastadion in Munich, Germany. The opposition had yet to even touch the ball. West Germany rallied, however, and went on to win the match and the tournament 2–1.


The final was the first competitive football game between the two nations.
