First eSports league created by an established sporting league

Announced to the world in February 2017, the NBA 2K eSports league is a formal pro gaming season run by the National Basketball Association (NBA), featuring 17 pro USA basketball teams represented by the "best basketball gamers in the world". Similar to the current NBA set-up, the tournament will feature a drafting system in which players (gamers) of 2K's basketball series will be recruited to teams as full-time pros. The inaugural season fully kicks off in 2018.
