On 3 June 1962, Marcos Coll (Colombia) scored directly from a corner against the Soviet Union during a Group 1 FIFA World Cup match at the Carlos Dittborn stadium in Arica, Chile. It remains the only so-called “Olympic goal” in the history of the tournament. Colombia, who had been 4–1 down at the time of Coll’s goal, went on to draw the match 4–4.
