On 21 May 2017, SK Telecom T1’s mid laner Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok (South Korea) became the first League of Legends pro to win more than $1 million in tournament prize money – according to data tracked by eSportsearnings.com. The hot-shot star, widely regarded as the game's best ever player, passed this milestone after his team beat G2 Esports to win the Mid-Season Invitational. In total, Faker had competed in 35 tournaments and was inevitably also the highest-earning League of Legends player.
