On 6 November 2016, Chris Geiler (Australia) sustained a flight for 95.7 seconds during the first FAI World Wingsuit Performance Flying Championships in Florida, USA. Athletes are flown to an altitude of around 4,000 metres (13,123 feet) then exit the plane. Their competition zone is between the altitudes of 3,000 metres and 2,000 metres (9,842–6,561 feet). They strive to fly farther, faster or for longer than each other within this 1,000‑metres (3,280-feet) “window”.
