During Expedition 50/51/52 on the International Space Station, which took place between 28 October 2016 and 2 September 2017, NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson (USA) conducted three extravehicular activities (EVAs). This took her spacewalk total to 10 – the most spacewalks by a female astronaut.
Whitson's 10th spacewalk was performed on 23 May 2017 with fellow US astronaut Jack Fischer. It was an unscheduled EVA to repair a faulty relay box that was fitted on a previous EVA on 30 March 2017.
This took Whitson's total EVA time to 60 hours 21 minutes – also a female record for most accumulated time on spacewalks. Overall, it's the third longest time accumulated on spacewalks for any astronaut.
