Ueli Steck (Switzerland, b. 4 October 1976; d. 30 April 2017) climbed the Eiger North Face along the Heckmair Route in 2 hours 22 minutes 50 seconds on 16 November 2015.

Steck first set a speed record on the Eiger in 2007, when he climbed the face in 3 hours 54 minutes. In 2008, he broke his own record with a time of 2 hours 47 minutes 33 seconds, climbing the route entirely free and within the official season for a winter ascent. On 20 April 2011, Dani Arnold (Switzerland, b. 1984) soloed the North Face of the Eiger along the same route in 2 hours 28 minutes, using fixed ropes on the Hinterstoisser Traverse.
