The Hugo Awards, awarded internationally for excellence in the field of science fiction and fantasy at the World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon), were established in 1953 and have been presented annually since 1955. Celebrating their 63rd consecutive year of existence on 11 August 2017 in Helsinki, Finland, the awards – sponsored by the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS) literary society – are run by and voted on by the international community of sci-fi fans.
