Melissa 'Mel' Nicholls (41) is a full-time athlete and British Paralympian, having suffered multiple strokes - the last in in 2008. She competes as an endurance handcyclist and marathon wheelchair racer on the world circuit, having competed at London 2012 and Rio 2016 in track athletics (wheelchair racing).
Mel built a support team around her for this challenge, including a physio, navigator, mechanic, photographer, and also had a film crew on board throughout the challenge.
