The dog group that has won the Best in Show (BIS) title the most times at Crufts Dog Show is the Gundog group, members of which have won BIS 24 times out of the 80 times that this title has been competed for. The winning breeds within the group were as follows: English cocker spaniel (seven times); Irish setter (four times); English setter (three times); Labrador retriever (three times); pointer (two times); flat-coated retriever (two times); Hungarian Vizsla (once); Clumber spaniel (once); American cocker spaniel (once: the 2017 title was won by Afterglow Miami Ink, owned by Jason Lynn and R da Silva).

Between 1905 and 1914, the premier title won by dogs at Crufts was Best Champion (being replaced by BIS in 1928; there were no Crufts shows staged between 1915 and 1927), and Best Champion was won by a Gundog breed on just one occasion – in 1909 by Clareholm Dora, a Field Spaniel, owned by Mrs E. Rouse.
