Taylor Swift (USA) won more surfboard trophies at the Teen Choice Awards than any other musician/individual – 26. This includes five consecutive Music – Female Country Artist awards (2010–14), four successive Music – Country Song wins, in 2010–13 (Fifteen, Mean, Sparks Fly and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together), and three Music – Female Artist awards (2009 and 2011–12).

In 2019, Swift was the first – and to date only – recipient of the event’s Icon Award, honouring her as a “pop culture icon” and “one of today’s biggest social influencers, using her voice and platform to inspire and create positive change”.

Two of Swift’s awards (Movie – Female Breakout Star in 2010 for Valentine’s Day and Voice in 2012 for The Lorax) were not in recognition of her music. As of 26 September 2022, fellow musicians Justin Bieber (23 in 2010–17, including one TV award), Miley Cyrus (19 in 2007–17, including four movie and one TV award) and Selena Gomez (18 in 2009–18, including three TV awards) trailed Swift for the total number of awards won by an individual.

One Direction won the most awards overall – 28. The recent edition of the Teen Choice Awards was held in Hermosa Beach, California, USA, on 11 August 2019.
