The longest footbridge measures 2.34 km (1.45 mi) and was achieved by the Wild Animal Sanctuary (USA) in Keenesburg, Colorado, USA, on 31 October 2016.

The footbridge spans a 720 acre habitat, with enclosures for 500 rescued animals, including 450 large carnivores (lions, tigers, bears). In addition to their rescues from foreign countries, the sanctuary works closely with the US Department of Agriculture to house animals repossessed by the government from neglectful owners, zoos, carnivals, and (in the case of multiple big cats) drug kingpins.
