The most individual gold medals won at the European Athletics Championships is 7, achieved by Sandra Elkasević (Croatia) in the discus between 2010 and 2024; and equalled by Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway) in the 1,500 m and 5,000 m between 2018 and 2026.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen won the 5,000 m title at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham to equal Sandra Elkasević’s tally of seven golds in individual events. Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith had won eight golds as of the same championships, but this included four in relay events.
