Warner Bros. Interactive’s Batman: Arkham City (Rocksteady Studios, 2011) collected no fewer than 11 awards in the year following its release. These included BAFTA Awards for "Best Performer" (Mark Hamill) and "Best Action Game"; "Adventure Game of the Year" from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, USA; and "Best Action Adventure", "Game Best Adapted Video Game" and "Character of the Year" from the Spike Video Game Awards (VGAs).

Licenced games often have a poor reputation. In recent years this trend has changed, but it was Rocksteady's Batman series that really proved what was possible, raising the bar significantly. It's also worth nothing the types of categories the game won, including actor performances, showing that the medium is maturing.
