The oldest cat café still in existence has been operated for 24 years, and was achieved by Kitten Garden (China), in Taipei, Taiwan, China, on 9 June 2022.
Kitten Garden, also known as 'Cat Flower Garden' or 'Cafe Cats and Dogs', opened in 1998 and is located just off Zhishan Station in the Shilin District of Taipei. A recent tally of its animal members included 12 cats as well as two dogs and one bird. Cats are permitted to jump onto tables and even onto the patrons, and snacks for them can be purchased in the café. The menu offers a wide range of edibles and the café's shelves are stocked with cat books. Following its success, other cat cafes have opened in Taipei and many others elsewhere in the world.
