The most Olympic Triathlon medals won by a female athlete is two and was achieved by Nicola Spirig (Switzerland) in London, UK, in 2012 and in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 20 August 2016.

Nicola Spirig became the first woman to win two triathlon medals by taking silver in Rio to add to the gold medal she won in London in 2012.

In 2016, the Brownlee brothers (Alistair and Jonathan) equalled the men's record for triathlon medals by taking their second each to match the feat of Simon Whitfield and Bevan Docherty.

Triathlon has been an Olympic sport since the 2000 games in Sydney.
