As of 26 January 2017, EA's Ignite engine had been used to create a total of 15 sports videogames, including Madden NFL 17 (EA Tiberon, 2016) and EA Sports UFC 2 (EA Canada, 2016). EA moved to consolidate the number of different game engines its developers use at the start of the eighth generation of home consoles, favouring its Ignite engine for most of its sports titles. Interestingly, after using the Ignite engine on the series, EA Canada opted to use EA's other main game engine, Frostbite 3, for FIFA 17 (EA Canada, 2016).
