The largest functional microprocessor model has 42,370 transistors, built by James Newman (UK) in Cambridge, UK, and completed on 22 June 2016.
James built the MegaProcessor to visually and tangibly display the inner operations of a microprocessor. LEDs lighting up show calculations progressing through the model.
Since completion, the MegaProcessor has been donated to the Centre for Computing History in Cambridge, UK.
