Only one woman has won more than four London wheelchair marathons: Tanni Grey-Thompson won six in total, but only once defended her title. Francesca Pocellato has been wheelchair-bound since breaking her back at the age of two. She has been at every Summer Paralympics since 1988, with the exception of London 2012, and has also appeared at three Winter Paralympics.
Tatyana McFadden was born with spina bifida and paralysed from the waist down at birth. She began using a wheelchair at the age of six. She has broken multiple world records and in 2013 became the first person, able-bodied or otherwise, to win four World Marathon Majors in a calendar year.
