Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary (b. 15 January 1973) was aged 44 years 21 days when he took to the field in the final of the 2017 African Cup of Nations final against Cameroon, held at the Stade de l'Amitié in Libreville, Gabon, on 5 February 2017. El-Hadary's hopes of a fifth tournament victory were dashed as Cameroon ran out 2–1 winners.
