The Star Wars film with the most Academy Award nominations remains the first one made, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977), which was nominated in 10 separate categories in 1978, and won in six – for Art Direction, Costumes, Original Score, Sound, Film Editing and Visual Effects. The other nominations were for Best Original Screenplay, Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Alec Guinness), and Best Director.
