First mind-controlled prosthetic with independent finger control

In 2016, researchers at John Hopkins University in Boston, Maryland, USA, announced that they have developed a prosthetic limb system fully controlled from a person's mind and able to move fingers independently of each other. The system is the most advanced prosthesis in terms of dexterity yet developed. Neurosurgeons implanted a sensor on the brain of an epileptic patient already undergoing brain surgery, and after a computer learned which brain activity moved his fingers, the patient was able to move fingers of the robotic arm independently using only his thoughts.
