The first mixed team to row the Atlantic east to west from Europe to South America, mainland to mainland, were Jake Heath, Mel Parker, Susannah Cass and Luke Richmond (all UK), who rowed the distance of 5,644 km (3,507 miles; 3,048 nautical miles) from Lagos, Portugal, to Pontinhas, Brazil, in 54 days 10 hours 45 minutes between 29 February and 23 April 2016 on board Row 2 Rio.
