A copy of the rare Sega Mega Drive version of Tetris was offered for sale for $1 million on the online auction site eBay on 2 August 2011. Later marked “sold”, it was posted by the seller “shinsnk” from Hosalric, Spain, who had bought the game for €11,000 ($15,783; £9,633). The high price was owing to the Mega Drive version's rarity – it is one of fewer than 10 copies in existence – and this copy was also signed by the game's Russian creator Alexey Pajitnov, making it "unique" according to the seller.
